Social Media as per Wiki is
interactions among people in which they create, share, and exchange information
and ideas in virtual communities and networks. This is not as we in India historically
see the word Social. But things are changing faster now we consider this
virtual social Media as today’s society and everybody put his best picture as
his profile photo. People without giving a second thought putting their child's
pictures, wife's, parent’s, whole family's picture and making it public. I
don't understand why anyone want to show his family picture to an unknown
person whom he/she never met in his life. What the fun being social in this way
everybody seems to be in hurry to put his family history, social status,
personal life on Social Media. This media converted every single person into a
product and taught everybody without going into any B school 'the art of Marketing’.
Have you ever seen anyone putting his ailing mother's photo? the answer is never,
nobody does it because it downgrade their Market Value, Is this being social is
all about? People spend so much time on Social Media these days but they
themselves know it's all fake, how many people really give a thought about
anything after liking/sharing any material on Facebook. Now everybody's social quotient
is decided by how much time you spend on Social Media, how many friends you
have, how many likes you get in a picture you post. What an irony an average
person having more than 1000 friends on FB hardly knows 200 and hardly meet 10
in a month, how social is that? I salute to the concept of Social media, it
keeps people engage as if they are nothing else to do. Earlier it was said that
if government wants to divert people's attention from any issue they think to organize
a cricket series, people get engage and forget everything else. Now they don’t
need to think much Social Media is there.
Sooner or later charm of Social Media
will fade but i am sure they will invent something better to keep people engage.
So let’s celebrate and go social virtually in this new world.
